Rough top edge from where it was removed from book and a little toning around the edges but overall very good condition

) were painstakingly embedded into it surface at some point to turn it into a large

but am not 100% certain of that attribution

with a square nail used for punching holes in the lid in order to let the heat out

There is a finely carved border around the perimeter on both front and back as well as three rows of three lines on the spine, and what I assume are the initials of the carver, AD, at the bottom left corner of the heart, which kicks a bit in the that direction!
